By Pete Rizzo
This year cannot end soon enough as far I’m concerned. So long 2016, don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out! What a lousy year for our rock and roll legends, with the latest one to pass away a pioneer of my favorite genre of music!
Greg Lake has passed away following a long battle with cancer at the age of 69.
Lake co-founded King Crimson with band mainstay Robert Fripp, playing bass and singing on their first two albums and helping to set the foundation of the genre I know and love immensely as progressive rock,…
,…before jumping to what would become Emerson, Lake and Palmer, one of prog’s most enduring power trios.
I’ll probably miss his performances on ‘21st Century Schizoid Man’ and ‘Karn Evil 9’ the most, with this version of the latter coming from their one-off reunion back in 2010.
Thanks for ‘the show’, Greg Lake! RIP!
About the Author
Hi, I'm Pete Rizzo, early morning elixir for your weekends. I love music and I love talking about it. I grew up listening to bands like Rush (best band on the planet!), Van Halen (Diamond Dave all the way), AC/DC (Bon rules!) and Genesis (the Gabriel years). But my true love is progressive rock and heavy metal. The louder, crunchier, more bombastic and self-indulgent, the better! When I’m not on the air, I’m either training in martial arts, deciding which tattoo I should get next, reading a good book (I still enjoy turning actual pages), or my wife and I are planning our next big travel excursion. I’m on every Saturday and Sunday morning. You can also follow me on on Twitter @PeteRizzoWBAB. I’d love to hear from you.
