The field of late night talk show hosts has become quite crowded in recent years. Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O’Brien have certainly carved out their own uniquely strong identities. Whether it’s Fallon’s sense of childlike fun, Colbert’s politically charged and funny monologues, Kimmel’s hilarious rivalry with Matt Damon or Coco’s classic string dance/nipple rub combo, their identities are formidable enough that they should stay in their time slots for as long as they wish.

Memories of my childhood came flooding back in a rather unceremonious way recently when two of my onscreen heroes almost got into a real life tussle a few days ago.
Sam Jones, he of one of my all-time favorite movies “Flash Gordon” and Lou Ferrigno, he of one of my all-time favorite TV shows “The Incredible Hulk”, nearly mixed it up at this year’s Comic Con in London.
Part-Kudos/ Part-‘What Were You Thinking?!’ to the man who had the balls to step in before things got out of control between these two literal and figurative giants (both of whom stand well [More]

Pilfered song title from ‘And Then There Were Three’ notwithstanding, there are rumblings that Genesis may have something special in the works as they turn 50 this year.
For now it’s just “wait and see”, but Mike Rutherford said recently that some reunion gigs with him, Phil Collins and Tony Banks may be a possibility with Phil slowly making his way back from retirement.
Now the magnitude of a band celebrating 50 years together is big enough. But the added symmetry around the anniversary makes it more noteworthy. Think about it, if Phil, Mike and Tony team together, it would be [More]

The main reason “The Blacklist” and “Designated Survivor” are two of my favorite shows on TV right now is the strength of both leads, James Spader and Kiefer Sutherland. They are both just fun to watch, and more importantly, fun to listen to. Both are blessed with uniquely awesome speaking voices. So I asked myself: Which voice do I like better? By a very slight margin, I have to give the edge to Kiefer.

It will be a busy few days for Metallica, who we will be seeing lots of as they are “popping up” throughout town.
Bad wordplay aside, Metallica is second rock band to open a ‘pop-up store’. Pop stars have been doing this for a while, but now rock is jumping in with Guns ‘N’ Roses doing the honors with their pop-up story in NYC around their MetLife Stadium show last summer.
Metallica’s store goes up this weekend in downtown Manhattan ahead of their MetLife show Sunday night. They also hit the New Nassau Coliseum on Wednesday, which yours truly will be gleefully attending. But in between, they are also squeezing in a [More]

One of my oldest and dearest friends actually deserves credit for this new word, which he sent me along with a clip of Geddy Lee playing onstage with the surviving members of Yes, one of the newest Rock Hall of Fame inductees.
First off, it was a huge thrill watching my pre-eminent rock heroes inducting a group of my other rock heroes.
SIDE NOTE: Am I the only one who thinks Rick Wakeman and Alex Lifeson have a future touring the comedy clubs of America as the next Burns & Carlin or Cheech & Chong?! Wakeman’s acceptance speech was hilarious! I would [More]
