Will the Holy Triumvirate go on? If so, it may need to be renamed to something along the lines of the “Pious Pair”, “Devout Doublet”, “Canadian Coalition” or my personal favorite, “The Divinity Affinity”. Or if there’s truth to the rumors out now, simply “LeeLifeson”.
This according to Eddie Trunk, who said recently that Geddy and Alex may go forward and make new music together while Neil enjoys a well-deserved retirement after being the greatest rock drummer on the planet for the last four decades. Now comes word that Alex Lifeson has shot down the rumors [for now – I still have a strong feeling it will happen somewhere down the line].
Far as I’m concerned, 2/3rds of Rush would still be better than 2/3rds of what passes for music these days so I say “Bring It On!!”. And if it winds up sounding like an amalgam of Geddy’s and Alex’s solo projects from 20 years ago, sign me up even quicker!
Thoughts on Geddy and Alex making new music together again?
Hi, I'm Pete Rizzo, early morning elixir for your weekends.
I love music and I love talking about it. I grew up listening to bands like Rush (best band on the planet!), Van Halen (Diamond Dave all the way), AC/DC (Bon rules!) and Genesis (the Gabriel years). But my true love is progressive rock and heavy metal. The louder, crunchier, more bombastic and self-indulgent, the better!
When I’m not on the air, I’m either training in martial arts, deciding which tattoo I should get next, reading a good book (I still enjoy turning actual pages), or my wife and I are planning our next big travel excursion.
I’m on every Saturday and Sunday morning. You can also follow me on on Twitter @PeteRizzoWBAB. I’d love to hear from you.
