Jon Lord

The organ probably most synonymous with prog back in the day, Jon Lord is the guy I first think of that did for the Hammond organ what Jimi Hendrix did for the Fender Stratocaster and Lemmy Kilmister did for the Rickenbacker.

He passed away six years ago this month, sadly before he could realize Deep Purple’s (LONG OVERDUE) inclusion into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Here he is doing his thing on one of his most memorable solos

The Deep Purple tunes where his performances stand out on are vast. This one ranks as my favorite Jon Lord performance,…

,…with this one coming in second.

How about you? What are your favorite Jon Lord performances?
