You’re the Holy Triumvirate and you are fresh off the success of what would turn out to be your best selling album. How do you follow it up? To paraphrase Christopher Walken’s legendary SNL line, “I got a fever, and the only prescription is MORE KEYBOARDS!”
Off of “Moving Pictures”, Rush released the first of their four “keyboard era” albums, “Signals”, 36 years ago this month. They keyboard albums come in for quite a bit of a drubbing among some of us hardcore Rush fans, though I do enjoy them a lot.
This one’s admittedly not my favorite of the bunch (that distinction goes to “Power Windows”, which would come out a few years later). But there are great songs on “Signals”.
